PM Pranam Scheme: The Union Cabinet has approved a major scheme in the interest of farmers. The Union Cabinet has approved the PM-PRANAM scheme with an outlay of Rs 3.70 lakh crore. Under this scheme, the central government will give grants to the states to promote alternative fertilizers, thus farmers will also get alternative fertilizers and that too at cheaper prices.
Union Cabinet approves PM-PRANAM scheme
Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave information about the approval of PM Pranam Scheme. The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a new scheme PM-Pranam to encourage states to promote alternative fertilisers, Mandaviya said. The government has allocated 3.68 lakh crore rupees for this scheme. Under this financial assistance will be given to the states and the states will be able to strengthen the fertilizer system.
Announcing a unique package for farmers
- The CCEA approved a bundle of schemes to enhance farmers' well-being, revive land productivity and ensure food security and environmental sustainability.
- CCEA approves continuation of urea subsidy scheme; Rs. 3,68,676.7 crore committed for urea subsidy for 3 years (2022-23 to 2024-25).
- Rs. 1451 crore sanctioned for Market Development Assistance (MDA) scheme to exemplify wealth from waste; Straw and organic manure from Gobardhan plants will be used to enrich the soil and keep the environment safe and clean.
- Introduction of Sulfur Coated Urea (Urea Gold); To overcome soil sulfur deficiency and save input cost for farmers
What will benefit the farmers?
PM Pranam Scheme will benefit more than one crore farmers in India. The government's initiative to promote alternatives to fertilizers will provide farmers with cost-effective and environment-friendly options to maintain soil fertility. The Gobar Dhan Yojana will also promote the use of compressed bio gas, which will help reduce waste and generate clean energy.

What is PM Pranam Yojana?
In Budget 2023, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the launch of the “PM Pranam Yojana” for promotion of alternative fertilizers and balanced use of chemical fertilizers. The Finance Minister in his speech said, “PM Program for Restoration, Awareness, Nourishment and Amelioration of Mother Earth' (PM Pranaam) will be launched to encourage States and Union Territories to promote balanced use of alternative fertilizers and chemical fertilizers.
